How To Lose Lower Stomach Fat

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

If you’re wondering how to lose lower stomach fat then you need to lose overall body fat. It seems that the majority of people are aware of this fact, except for the relative few who think that it can be done through spot training. Despite it being true that spot training does not reduce fat, it does however tone the muscles so that once you have lost the fat, you will be toned and not flabby.

1. If you do not target your lower stomach with specific exercises, when you lose lower stomach fat it will be flabby. Why would you want to lose weight and look flabby? However we are getting ahead of ourselves. The first goal is to lose overall fat, since we have established that we can not fat reduce.

In order to lose weight quickly you need to eat around 1200-1500 calories each day, but no less than 1200. On the first day that you begin to count calories, you’ll find out how many you eat every day. On the second day, reduce your calorie intake by 500 per day until you reach 1500.

2. You need to keep track of your calories. If you don’t you will not start to lose weight and will not be able to keep it off. As soon as you start to cut your calories you should begin a weight training program. Cardio is also good, but weight training is important because muscle burns calories.

As part of the weight training you need to add ab work outs, in order to target lower stomach fat and muscle. You need to hit your abs hard and do a lot of reps from different angles. Super setting is a good way to go. This means that you perform alternate ab exercises with no rest between your sets for at least 15 minutes.

3. But this is not enough to lose fat on your lower stomach, so don’t go there. It’s weight training that takes it off, particularly working your legs. Your legs are the heaviest and toughest muscle to work on so that if you work them hard enough you’ll be able to burn more calories and lose more fat.

More about the abs. When your lower stomach requires extra work you need to spend more time targeting the area. You can do this by doing leg raises, windmills, ab pull ups, vacuum pose and reverse crunches as well as obliques which are more commonly known as love handles.

5. Your ab program should go as below in a super set with no rest between your sets. Once you finish this routine, you need to repeat it for 15 minutes. If you are a beginner then you need to build reps, sets and intensity.

** 20 oblique twists
** 50 bicycle abs and 50 leg raises
** 5 vacuum poses hold for 15 seconds
** 50 reverse crunches and 50 windmills

If you are unsure of how to do any of these exercises you can always find how to videos on Youtube which will help you learn how to lose lower stomach fat.

Is it possible to gain strength and lose fat at the same time?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

I realize that you can’t get big muscles and lose weight at the same time. However, can you get stronger to lift more AND be able to lose fat through cardio? I already have a full-body workout plan, and before i go to the gym I do a 30-minute light run. I just want to know if my jogging is of any use.
By full body workout plan, I mean that I use weights and dumbells to work on my body parts, thus effectively weight lifting.

if you want to lose fat try exercising with Jack per this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKCGe2Ezris

How to lose fat on legs and not gain muscle?

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

I have A LOT of fat on my legs, and cellulite, and when I tell you this I’m not kidding. I want to lose weight but I’m trying to figure out what to do so I lose weight on my thighs and calves without gaining muscle. Help?

Ok, cellulite is caused by bad circulation, toxins, dehydration and bad (saturated) fats.. First off… drink more water.. aim for 2L per day. Drink max one coffee per day, but if you can switch to green tea that’s alot better. Cinnamon is known to be good for getting rid of cellulite, so add it to as much food as you can.. on stewed apple it’s really nice, or with brown rice and pure organic maple syrup as a health dessert.

You need to avoid saturated fats, salt and artificial sugar like the plague.. and I mean that!!! Cut out as many processed (packaged, pre-prepared, frozen) foods as you possibly can from your diet. Don’t eat pizza, burgers, any of that nonsense. Make fresh pasta sauces.. you can make pesto sauce from scratch.. grated parmesan cheese, basil leaves, garlic, olive oil, ground pepper (don’t need salt, the cheese is salty enough) and put that onto freshly cooked penne pasta or spaghetti. My point is switch to pure wholesome foods.. fruit and veg, lean meats (not fried!! and avoid red meat its full of saturated fat and unless it’s really really lean like a very lean young beef steak, then it’s a recipe for a coronary, let alone cellulite.) For snacks have fruits, nuts, yogurts, drink freshly made fruit and vegetable juices, fruit smoothies.. Look online for recipes, there are numerous different ones to suit all tastes and you can further experiment by yourself.

In terms of exercise and not wanting to gain muscle.. sorry to burst your bubble but here are the cold hard facts: If you diet without exercising you will become flabby.. when you diet your skin loses elasticity (i.e. it becomes less toned).. this is NOT what you want if you have cellulite. There is a big misconception with sooo many women about exercise.. people think that if you work out then sooner or later you are going to turn into a female body builder… it won’t happen!!! Those women take steroids, protein shakes, lift seriously heavy weights in the gym very often and even then not all of them can achieve muscles like you see online/ on t.v. Oh and you know Victoria’s Secret models and what amazing thighs they have….?…. yeah? well I promise you that they work out… most likely a couple of hours per day in the gym with a trainer doing low weight repetitions as well as swimming or running or both. If you want to get rid of cellulite, aside from changing your diet, you NEED to tone up.. a perfect slim firm thigh has muscle.. You won’t see any muscles sticking out, but it will be strong! You need to exercise…. in any case if will take months until you notice a real difference but it WILL happen. Run or swim at a moderate speed (whatever feels comfortable for you but so you still feel like its a work out.. you should feel like you are exerting youself/putting in effort but not to the extent that you are going to collapse). Swim for 20 mins 3 times a week and you will notice an improvement within a few months. Your best option would be to join a gym and get a personal trainer but not everyone can afford this of course.. some gyms will give you a free session with a trainer when you join and they will make a program for you and you can just do that when you go to the gym and don’t need regular sessions with the trainer. See what is available. I have been running and swimming regularly for 5 years and i don’t have cellulite but i am also not muscular.. if I did not exercise I am SURE that I would be flabby. Exercise makes all the difference, you just have to decide whether for you firm thighs are worth the effort of sticking to an exercise plan (no excuses!).. .

When trying to lose weight, how do you make sure you lose FAT instead of MUSCLE?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I’m pretty toned underneath the fat, but when I’m losing weight, how do I make sure I keep the muscle and just lose the fat? I’ve heard different stories like you lose fat first, and then other stories about you can lose muscle too?

Any advice, tips, etc?

Firstly, there are quite a few incorrect answers here. It is much easier to lose muscle than it is to lose fat and it is also much easier to gain fat than it is to gain muscle (in most cases).

It is very difficult to maintain all your muscle mass when losing weight, but with the correct diet and adequate amounts of protein (at least 1g/1lb of body weight) as well as performing strength training at least 3 times per week, your weight loss should not be more 10%-25% muscle loss (at least 75%-90% should be fat loss). If you are losing too much muscle, then you need to increase your protein/carb intake and do more strength training and less cardio. You should not lose more than 1lb-2lb per week otherwise you will be mostly likely losing muscle. Good luck.
