In what direct ways do parents influence their children?
In specific ways. For example, parents affect their children’s
Likelyhood to be bulied,
education aspirations by parents affect the child’s view on education,
weight/diet,
sexual activity/awareness,
social competence
drug use
Can you list a couple more? or are these the main ones?
it is actually shown through research that parents can influence their children in heaps of ways. One way is their likelyhood to drink/smoke etc. this is proven that when children and parents do not have a strong enough relationship (ie communication links) or are in a family where they have divorced parents and or a parent that alreay smokes or drinks then their likelyhood is increased. most of these issues as you mentioned above are influenced by parents but mainly by the key of communication. social status and money does come into it as well as exposure to different things (culture, cities, problems etc) but i know that weight and diet (might also be heretary) but can also be influenced by parents eatting habits. if parents always eat healthy and teach their child the importance of eating healthy but also teach that it is not a crime to eat unhealthily every now and then, then the child will have awareness of that issue.
Sometimes genetics just doesnt work out too though i supose some parents can imform their children about these issues but (according to surveys and things) media and friends are the two groups that children feel more pressured to conform to. they could have the best parents in the world and the best education but it comes down to ones actions.
In practically EVER way. But I don’t believe that parents influence sexual orientation.
Religion, behavior (if they are well behaved or naughty), if they crave love/attention (because they aren’t getting it from their parents they will end up on drug and/or sexually active at a young age.
