Is it a sign of diabetes if ants are attracted to my mug filled with water?

When I place my mug filled with water beside me, after half an hour or so, several ants are crawling inside the mug. It is a recent sign which I’ve noticed. Our family is does not have a direct line of diabetics and I pretty much have a excellent diet–I often prefer vegetables over meat.
It is not a sign of diabetes. Its a sign of thirsty ants and a bug infestation. Call the exterminator. Also quit looking for diseases to call your own. Someday they might visit you.
Obesity and inactivity are the main causes of diabetes.

I have to give you confidence, this is one of the most terrible questions ever questioned on answers diabetes.

I don’t know where you got this from (the ant thing) but I’m sure it’s an urbane legend. Forget the ants because there are more, sure ways to find out if you have diabetes. See your doctor.References : MedLab Technologist supervisor (retired)
Symptoms of diabetes can be:
Thirst
Frequent urination
Tiredness or lack of energy
Blurred vision
Infections (eg. Thrush)
Weight loss (in type 1 diabetes)
Go see your doctor if you are concerned. About the ants, I am not sure, but I doubt it.References :
It could be a sign of diabetes in the Ants. You should have them tested. there is nothing of poorer quality then an Ant with sugar issues.

you are telling us that most doubtless you did not wash well your mug , because the ants usaully attracted to residue of foods or bevarages , but you could check your sugar to be sure if really you have an elevated sugar level.References :

The romans used to be able to ‘tell’ who had diabetes by their urine – since there was no treatment for the disease at this time (and that would remain the case up until the advent of insulin in the 1920s!) the people with diabetes would start passing sugar in their urine.
That may be why you reckon that ants getting into your water would make you diabetic. Unless you are peeing a small bit into your water and are an undiagnosed diabetic in a state of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), but I seriously doubt that. Hahaha!
I reckon you might want to start spraying for ants. They’re curious creatures, and they aren’t necessarily drawn by sugar. They’re likely just investigating the mug. Also, the mug might not have been completely clean (ants can smell/sense even the tiniest bit of residue!) before you used it.
But if you want to set your mind at ease, question your doctor to test you for diabetes. Your diet (you say you prefer veggies over meat) has nothing to do with whether or not you develop it. It is hereditary. Check out the link I provided below – it will tell you what the actual symptoms of diabetes are.

Wow! This is the weirdest question I have seen on Y/A.
I have not heard of this but it sounds very much like an urban myth but maybe it has a touch of truth to it.. Do you have the symptoms of diabetes? If so, go get a test. If not, don’t trust ants.References :
what would a mug of water have to do with how your body is acting?? If you have diabetes the ants would be crawling up your pant leg. It means you are too sweet.
Someone didn’t wash your mug well before filling it with water.References :
Only if they have trained to be a doctor and run blood tests from you as this is the only way to diagnose diabetes
ALL it shows is you have an ant investationReferences : Retired nurse/diabetic
I reckon it’s an urban myth. If you have diabetes, I reckon you would be aware of the real symptoms and not the ants.
Type 1 diabetes is serious, and if you’ve had Type 1 symptoms for a long period of time, I doubt you would be sitting on Yahoo asking questions. You would more likely be in hospital.
Type 2 diabetes is serious, but less serious than Type 1. You should still take Type 2 seriously, but symptoms will usually be gradual over weeks or months.
If you have any of the symptoms of diabetes, be sure to visit your doctor. For information regarding home testing, visit the source I have posted. For a best diagnosis you will need to see a doctor and devise a plot to control your diabetes should you have it.
Do not leave it untreated, as diabetes can cause hardening and furring of the ateries which will lead to blood clots, heart attacks, strokes etc. It can also lead to nerve hurt, and optic nerve hurt which will lead to eventual blindness (Gluacoma).
Hope that helps.References : http://home-diabetes-test.blogspot.com/2010/01/what-is-diabetes.html
