what are the effects (good and bad) of eliminating all direct sources of carbs from the diet?
so if a person was to eat only fruit and veg, and sources of protein such as eggs, fish, lamb, chicken, soya replicas etc. how would their body react immediately, and also after a prolonged period? are there
any effects on the brain?
thank you in advance.
unlike the atkins this diet includes a lot of green leafy vegetables and does not restrain on type or quantity of fruit.
your body would immediately react by shedding water. And if your protein & fat is sufficient your body will then begin to utilize stored fat more readily for fuel. Depending on how low your carbs are (sub 50g per day for most ppl) ketone bodies will be created and oxidized as well.
There is zero danger due to long term low carb diets. Maybe boredom?
Some people are "foggy" on low carb dieting while others thrive on it.
edit: this is what the ANTI low carb crowd doesn’t understand. Carbs are not "essential" to the human diet. There are such things as "essential" amino acids (proteins). There are such things as "essential" fats. But nobody or no doctor can ever name you ONE "essential" carbohydrate.
"Essential" basically means our bodies need it for survival AND our bodies can not create it so we must therefore feed it.
Carbs are not essential because our bodies can create GLUCOSE (carbs) when it needs them through a process called gluconeogenesis.
ok I will shuttup now
edit: ya the Atkins variation is NOT a good way to implement Low carbs.
good: really can help to lose extra fat ( along with lowering calories)
bad: lack of energy (especially at first, although u may get used to it more), bad breath, not healthy to do for an extended period of time. This is meant as a short term diet.

the brain feeds on carbs to survive, you would get tired, a feeling of being drained, and very moody. not to mention possible death, look up the bad effects of the atkins diet.
