What are the pros and cons of eliminating sugar from one’s diet?

I have recently limited my sugar intake by only consuming sugar during my breakfast hour. Throughout the rest of the day I try to avoid direct consumption of sugar; foods that I eat though would eventually breakdown to glucose in my body, however I do not eat direct sugars. That means I don’t consume pastries, juices, fruits, etc. What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing this, as I am trying to lose about 30 pounds.

There really are no cons to eliminating sugar from your diet.

Sugar causes your blood sugar to spike which gives you a rush of energy and then fall when makes you feel sluggish. By eliminating sugary snacks, you will feel a more constant energy level all day.

Natural sugars from eating whole fruits is good for you though. Don’t cut fruit out entirely. Cut out processed sugar and fruit juices.

You will get a sleeker body, lines on your stomach, and possibly cellulite could be eliminated easier with exercise.

Some cons are that you will be easily fatigued, you will need to get your energy from other sources, like high protein foods, some fish, eggs, and deffinetely a little more carbs.

A huge con is that you’ll crave sugar like its a drug. You’re better off just watching your calorie intake and eating a balanced diet.

There really aren’t many cons in the long term from a health perspective.

I have been pretty much doing this for years.

The biggest one for me is that I cannot give up chocolate entirely so I choose dark chocolate (70% cocoa).

When you meet your weight loss goal, you can start to add in more fruit in small portions.
