Can I lose weight by exercising and drinking only water without a restricting diet?

I want to lose about 30-40lbs but I don’t want to do a restricting diet only to gain the weight back as soon as I reach my goal weight and stop dieting. Right now I eat between 1700-2100 calories per day and I use the elliptical machine for 35 minutes daily. For fluid intake, I am only drinking water. Can I still lose weight this way?

nothing extreme
im working on doing some running on a machine at the gym
but is there anything i can do at home that is effective

Be honest Michele said it. Although for some, it’s easier said than done.

Start eating better, eat less food in general and NO sugar crap, less fat and less alcohol (it’s hard, I know)

Then walk/run more. Going a couple of miles, just walk it or jog I mean the weather is picking up now.

Drink water, tea, maybe (take into account the sugar you use) and avoid most other drinks like energy ones or whatever.

Also try and exericse in the morning, before breakfast … so maybe … get up/shower and go out for 30-45 minutes for a brisk walk then come back and eat – I hear this burns fat from the bodys stored energy 3 times faster.

Don’t brother with indoor machines like bikes and tredmils they are soo boring, waste electric and expensive. I see almost no reason for them (unless it was bad weather)

Get yourself an mp3 player/ipod for your walks and they are fun themselves.

What is the best way to lose 10 pounds in 25 days?

I want to lose ten pounds in 25 days and i was wondering what’s the safest way to do it and also keep off the weight. I am currently 5′3" and am 126 pounds. I have found that i look best when i weigh between 115-122 pounds (less is better for me). I want to burn off the tummy fat and tone down my arms some more. Thanks for the help.

How to avoid sagging skin and breasts with fast, major weight loss?

I weigh 420 lbs and am taking steps to lose this weight before I die of a heart attack or something. I plan to weigh 200 lbs by August. However, I am very concerned with sagging skins and breasts. I realize I will probably need some surgery, but I was hoping to give my skin a little help to avoid surgery as much as possible. Your breasts will sag, sorry. The reason they appear full now is that breasts are made of two things, fat, and glandular tissue which makes milk. When you lose fat, you will lose it from your breasts, too and they will become smaller.

It is so very important to incorporate weight training. You will burn fat, and gain muscle which will help a lot with the sagging skin lot over your whole body. This is the slow approach. Diet and exercise. But if you do lose all that weight that fast, you skin will not contract that quickly.

Visit any discussion forum on the internet for those wanting to lose weight, and you will find an astonishing number of people searching for which the “best” diet is to lose weight. Generally they also want to lose it quickly. That’s natural and normal.

However the answers these people get are both very muddling and very revealing.

How come?

Well the thing you will find is that nobody agrees with one another. One person will have lost a huge amount of weight on Weight Watchers, another will swear by Rosemary Connelly. And so on. There may be dozens of “best” diets recommended.

And there’s a reason for that – there *is* no best diet – just the best diet *for you*.

It’s vitally important to understand that fact, so please reread the last line to burn it into your head.

Let’s be honest – we all know that basically to lose weight we need to burn fewer calories than we consume. By reducing our calorific intake and/or exercising more we will achieve that.

In theory, therefore, you could create your own diet tonight and it would work and help you lose weight.

Perhaps you’d eat just salads and run for 30 minutes 3 times a week.

That would work, wouldn’t it?

Well, yes on a physical, nutritional level.

But perhaps not on a mental level – and that why there is no best diet.

Consider how many foods that are apparently bad for you – can be accommodated by other diets. For example with Weight Watchers you are allowed desserts in moderation. In the Atkins you can eat cheese. Yet people still lose weight on both of those diets.

But there are other differences too. Some diets require no exercise, others moderate and some an aweful lot.

Some require cycling, others running, some walking.

With some you get days off eating healthily, with others you build up “credits” which you can “spend” on treats.

The simple fact of the matter is that we are all different and what appeals to one person may not appeal to others.

The first time I tried the South Beach Diet I lost 7lbs in 7 days – but I disliked the rich food.

In contrast, I loved Body For Life with it’s day off each week to eat whatever I liked.

And so it follows that the best diet – for you – is the one you can follow for a long time. Any diet will work over the short term – like my South Beach experiment.

But for long-lasting wieght loss results you need a diet you can stick to – week after week, month after month.

Because while that sounds depressing – when you actually enjoy the diet sticking to it becomes a pleasure not a pain.

So the key is this – try out a variety of diets yourself. Don’t let others tell you what to do.

Maybe try a week or two of each one to see which you enjoy the most. Which seems “effortless” to you? Because even if you only lose a pound a week but are having the time of your life, it’ll be easier for you to lose weight than if you lost 7lb a week but hated every minute of it!

Losing weight is hard, if you don´t know what you are doing but it is easy if you do. Most people fail to lose weight before they have even begun. If you have the mindset, “I´ll go on a diet and see what happens, hopefully I will lose some weight,”you can´t lose any body weight with that kind of an attitude. You have to set yourself a goal and then go for it.

If you have a goal or a target, then it subconsciously creates motivation and energy to do stuff. You have the willpower to wake up early in the morning, burn calories with exercise and keep track of your nutrition. You have to think positive, it may seem silly but it is true. If you think, “I can’t lose weight no matter what I do, I would work out but I don’t have time” or “I don’t want to be fat anymore,” then you will never reach you goal and lose body fat. “I am getting leaner every day, I like eating healthy foods, I can do it,” that is much better, isn´t it?

If your goal is simply to lose fat, then that is not a very good goal. It has to be more specific. “I want to lose 7% of body fat in 3 months,” is much better. If you have a very specific goal and you have the right attitude, then you will have a much greater change of actually reaching the goal. Obviously if you want to lose fat, then you also have to measure your fat percentage. If you don´t do that, then you will not know if you have reached your target.
