Which is better when trying to lose weight exercising every day or every other day?I want to loose like 30-40 pounds and I am wondering if it is better to rest one day and exercise another… Seventeen magazine usually suggests to take turns, but is this more of a notion to maintain your weight or tone up then really bringing up the rear any? So should I exercise daily?
It depends on how hard you are exercising. If you are exercising extremely hard, and your muscles hurt the next day, you are not going to be able to perform the exercises the next day at optimal levels, which is basically a pointless workout. It may be best to take a break if your muscles are hurting, but generally you should try and do some kind of exercise everyday to promote heart health.
If your muscles are hurting after exercising, make sure to drink plenty of water and eat bananas, because the potassium in them help!References :
Take breaks if you’re tired–you don’t want to make exercise feel like a chore. Work out in different ways–run one day, walk another; play a sport, try yoga or stretching, lift weights, or do some thorough work around the house, like cleaning or yard maintenance.
You burn the same number of calories walking a mile than you do running a mile, but the latter also strengthens your heart. Swimming is a fun way to work out, and it doesn’t impact your joints the way running does; also, you’re both doing cardio and toning muscle when you swim.
I honestly wouldn’t take Seventeen magazine’s advice to heart, but it makes sense to "take turns" on occasion.References :
You should do at least 20 -30 minutes of walking everyday or if you have a pedometer 10,000 steps a day. The vital thing is to get moving. Atleast 1 day a week double your exercise time. For model if you normally exercise for 40 minutes Sat – Thurs, then on Friday do 80 minutes. This will also help you lose weight. Another vital factor is to remember to alternate your workouts linking cardio and strength. Making sure once your body becomes accustomed to a certain workout you increase the level of challenge. You can do this by adding weights to strength training, increasing the number of squats, etc, or increases minutes spent on cardio.
Combine above with a healthy diet and you should lose weight while maintaining a healthy muscle mass. Remember the you need to burn stout and gain muscle so your body will have a naturally higher metabolism. If you don’t eat healthy then you run the risk of bringing up the rear muscle mass along with stout mass.
Consult with your doctor to ensure you are working out and eating right for your body type and medical history.References :
